Leadership Training Council

The Principal Mission of the Leadership Training Council is to provide guidance and direction of the National League of Cities' Leadership Training Institute and to serve as a vehicle for the National League of Cities leadership positions.

The Leadership Training Council is essential to the overall guidance and direction of the Leadership Training Institute. Council members identify leadership development needs along with the professional trainers and recognized experts skilled in conducting the Leadership Training Institute seminars held in conjunction with the annual NLC Conferences. The Council provides guidance for all of the Leadership Training Seminars offered each year.

The Leadership Training Council consists of elected and appointed officials from across the United States. Council members, appointed by the President of the National League of Cities, serve a one-year term. The Leadership Training Council meets three times a year, at both of NLC's annual conferences and at the Annual Leadership Summit.

The Leadership Training Council also guides the program development of the annual Leadership Summit, various Regional Leadership Institute training programs, as well as the overall development and evaluation of all LTI seminar programs and events. Moreover, the Leadership Training Council continues to be instrumental in the advancement of the Certificate of Achievement in Leadership program for all NLC members.
