Overview
The First Tier Suburbs Council (FTS) represent cities and towns outside of central cities and inside the ring of developing suburbs and rural areas. These cities share unique challenges and strengths that should be included in national, state and regional policy discussions. They are diverse with respect to size, demographic characteristics, age and history, resources and governmental structure.
The summer meeting is an opportunity for local leaders who represent first tier suburbs to come together and share ideas, solutions and strategies to confront common challenges while also recognizing the great work that is happening in suburban communities across the country. This year’s meeting is taking place in Rancho Cordova, CA and will highlight the Sacramento region. Site visits and conversations will offer an in depth overview of the great work that surban leaders are promoting to address economic development, code enforcement, planning and many other topics.
