Employers in Savannah, Ga. are increasingly at the forefront of new steps to provide opportunity and remove barriers to success. STEP UP Savannah has been working in the community since it started as a task force in 2003. It has learned a lot of lessons including that it takes time to build not just opportunity but also community commitment for change. Originally housed at the Chamber of Commerce, STEP UP has always included businesses as key partners. Today, businesses like IKEA are taking even more of a role with many articulating the business case for reducing poverty.
This audio conference will explore how STEP UP is promoting opportunity and ways businesses can make a real difference in local anti-poverty efforts.
This is the third of three audio conferences in the Cities Promote Opportunity series co-sponsored by the YEF Institute and the Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity initiative managed by the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP).
