Overview

Established in 1976 as a forum for communication and information exchange among Hispanic local government elected officials and NLC colleagues, the Hispanic Elected Local Officials group provides training and networking for its members.

Attend this year's Summer Leadership Retreat to:

  • Enhance your network with Latino elected officials and national leaders
  • Learn more about issues in special seminars that help to expand your skill sets
  • Strengthen your governance skills
  • Attend the HELO Board of Directors Meeting
  • Find solutions to challenging problems in your hometown
  • Consider becoming a future leader in HELO and NLC

Why you should attend

The meeting will include discussion forums about HELO's mission and work objectives with NLC and its strategic plan and municipal issue sessions that offer creative solutions for local leaders about financial literacy, minority small business development, Hispanic Chambers of Commerce activities nationwide, an economic development tour of the Boston area offering best practices adaptable to your hometown, internet and broadband access for communities and an NLC University skills training session for professional credits. A benefit of membership in HELO helps individuals receive training and networking opportunities. All NLC members and colleagues with an interest in Latino issues in their communities are all welcome to attend.
