NBC-LEO’s 'Inspire Influence and Achieve' Conference Lines Up Prominent Speakers

NBC-LEO Bernice KingKeynote speakers for NLC's National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO) constituency group’s Annual Summer Conference include educator and author Dr. Dennis P. Kimbro, speaker and author Bernice King, and NLC President Cynthia McCollum, councilmember, Madison, Ala.

NBC-LEO President James Mitchell Jr., councilmember, Charlotte, N.C., will preside at the “Inspire, Influence and Achieve” conference, which will take place July 23-27 in Atlanta.

As an educator, author and business school professor, Kimbro has received numerous awards and made appearances in many forms of media, reaching a wide variety of people all over the world. He authored “Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice,” as a compilation of his own research with the work of Napoleon Hill to explore the secrets of success of the nation’s top performing men and women. Kimbro teaches on the faculty at the Clark Atlanta University School of Business Administration. At the conference, he will be speaking at the luncheon on Friday, July 25. 

As the youngest daughter of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, King began public speaking at age 17 when she spoke on behalf of her mother at the United Nations. Since then, King has had the opportunity to speak all over the world. She is an ordained minister at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga. In addition, King continuously participates in community activities and services. At the conference, King will be speaking at the luncheon on Thursday, July 24. 

McCollum's commitment to her community is exemplified by her active service on several local boards and committees, as well as her active participation in NLC. At the conference, McCollum will be speaking at the luncheon on Saturday, July 26.
