NLC Mourns the Passing of Former Eatonville Mayor

WASHINGTON—February 2, 2018 – Following the tragic news that former Eatonville, Fla. Mayor Bruce Mount Sr. passed away on Monday, National League of Cities (NLC) CEO and Executive Director Clarence E. Anthony issued the following statement.

“Mayor Mount was a dedicated local leader in his community and beyond. As a member of both the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials and the Florida Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, he championed the African American community locally, nationally and at the state level.

A friend of mine who cared deeply about his community and constituents, Mayor Mount and his family are in our thoughts and prayers. His service to his community will not be forgotten and we will miss him greatly.”

Mount served as Mayor of Eatonville from 2009-2015. He was a member of the National League of Cities, the Florida League of Cities, the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, the Florida Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials and the World Conference of Black Mayors.
