Conference Overview

The NLC-RISC Staff Conference provides opportunities for staff of state municipal league risk pools to learn about and share with colleagues trends, programs, services and best practices on a variety of topics in a non-competitive environment.  The conference also provides plenty of opportunities to connect and network with other pool staff from across the country.

Conference Registration

Online Conference Registration is now available! Registration fees are $495 per person and $225 per guest.  The registration deadline is September 26, 2012.

Cancellation Policy:

• By October 1st: $50 processing fee applies;
• Between October 2nd and October 15th: $100 cancellation fee applies;
• After October 15th or for a "no show": Forfeiture of the entire registration fee.

The NLC-RISC group rate is $159 per night for single or double occupancy plus applicable fees and taxes. The deadline to receive the group rate is 5:00 pm local time on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.  Reservations made after this deadline are based on availability.

Note: Check-in is 4:00 pm and check-out is 12:00 pm. You may cancel up to one week prior to arrival without penalty. There is also an early departure fee of 50% of one nights room and tax.

Hotel Overflow

The Francis Marion is sold-out for Sunday night, October 21 and Wednesday night, October 24.  We have secured a block of rooms at the three surrounding hotels at a preferred group rate.  All three hotels are within a block or two of the Francis Marion. 

Courtyard Marriott Charleston Historic District:   Group rate is $159 per night, plus applicable fees and taxes.   Book on or before 9/25/2012.  Make reservations at 888-236-2427 and reference "National League of Cities at the Courtyard Historic District".

Embassy Suites Historic Charleston: Group rate is $179 per night, plus applicable fees and taxes.  Book on or before 9/21/2012.  Reservations can be made online here.

Hampton Inn Charleston - Historic District:  Group rate is $169 per night, plus applicable fees and taxes.  Book on or before 9/21/2012. Make reservations at 800-HAMPTON or 843-723-4000 and reference "NLC". 

Transportation

Charleston International Airport is the major airport for the Charleston area. Transportation options to and from the airport include:

• Shuttle: Approx. $12.00 per passenger. Departs within 15 minutes.
• Taxi: Approx. $26 one way for one or two passengers (a $12 fee per passenger per trip will be charged for additional passengers).
• Car Rental: Many of the major car rental agencies service travelers at the Charleston International Airport. Note: Valet parking at the hotel is $17 plus tax (can be billed to the room) and $12 for self-parking (cash payment due upon arrival). Parking in Downtown Charleston is limited, but most attractions are within walking distance of the hotel.
