Former NLC Small Cities Council Member Dies

Roy Farr, 72, who served 36 years on the Fairburn, Ga., city council and was an active member of NLC?s Small Cities Council since its inception, died Sept. 23.

He enjoyed attending NLC functions, especially Small Cities Council meetings, his widow, Cassie Smith Farr, recalled.

A life-long Fairburn resident, Farr was active in many community organizations, as well as the Georgia Municipal Association. According to Cassie, her husband wanted to make sure everyone was heard.

Farr, who retired form Green Oil Company, was defeated for city council re-election last November.

Services were held Sept. 25 at First Baptist Church of Fairburn.

Farr was survived by his wife of 52 years,; daughter and son-in-law, Jenni and Randy Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Connie and Dwayne Strickland; and grandchildren Joshua Farr, Allison Farr and Ryan Cunningham.
