Municipal Leadership to Implement Comprehensive Plans for Children and Youth Project Cross-Site Meeting (April 2008)

Teams of city, school, and community leaders from Charleston, S.C.; Lakewood, Ohio; Lexington, Ky.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Portland, Ore.; and Washington D.C., gathered in Hampton, Va., to discuss their plans to support children and youth, take part in peer learning opportunities, hear from national experts on critical aspects of plan implementation, and learn from Hampton's experience of implementing a plan and developing a youth commission.

City-Schools Youth Planning Initiative Cross-Site Meeting (April 2006)

Municipal leaders from the City-Schools Youth Planning initiative shared strategies for developing collaborative plans for young people at this meeting in Long Beach, Calif., which was the mid-point gathering for the project.  Among the cities selected to participate in the project represented in Long Beach included Diamond Bar, Calif.; Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minn.; Lakewood, Ohio; and Charleston, S.C.

Leadership Academy on City-Schools Youth Planning (July 2005)

Municipal leaders, school district officials, and youth from 14 cities participated in this leadership academy on city-schools youth planning in Baltimore, which focused on collaborative planning to support youth development. 

Officials from the following cities participated: Charleston, S.C.; Des Moines, Iowa; Diamond Bar, Calif.; Edmond, Okla.; Indio, Calif.; Kansas City, Mo.; Lakewood, Ohio; Minneapolis, Minn.; Nampa, Idaho; Santa Fe, N.M.; Spokane, Wash.; Tampa, Fla.; and University City, Mo. The leadership academy, supported by the MetLife Foundation, featured both peer-led discussions and presentations from outside experts.
