Leadership Academy on Combating Childhood Obesity (February 2007)
Thirty local elected officials, senior municipal staff and school administrators from 14 cities and school districts gathered in Nashville, Tenn., for this leadership academy on combating childhood obesity through school wellness plans. These plans, which focus on promoting nutrition and physical activity in schools, were made requirements for all school districts participating in federal school meals programs as of the 2006 to 2007 school year.
