Bank On Evansville Releases Second Quarter Results (8/19/09)
The second quarter results are in for the Bank On Evansville program, which helps residents who don't have checking or savings accounts. Eight Cities Selected to Participate in NLC's Bank on Cities Campaign (4/13/09)
NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education, and Families (YEF Institute) has selected eight new cities to participate in a second phase of the Bank On Cities Campaign, a technical assistance project aimed at helping municipal leaders connect low- and moderate-income families to mainstream financial services and products. The cities selected for the project include Bryan, Texas; Denver; Gaithersburg, Md.; Indianapolis; Louisville, Ky.; Newark, N.J.; Rapid City, S.D.; and St. Petersburg, Fla. Local Leaders Gather to Advance Financial Empowerment Strategies (3/30/09)
Local elected officials, senior municipal staff and other community stakeholders from 22 cities gathered in Washington, D.C., on March 15 at a Municipal Financial Empowerment Symposium to learn and share effective strategies for helping families achieve financial stability. The symposium was co-sponsored by NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education, and Families (YEF Institute) and the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Coalition, a group of city leaders working together to improve the financial health of residents in their communities. Cities Connect Families With Financial Education During America Saves Week (3/18/09)

Cities Encouraged to Appy for 2009 Bank On Cities Technical Assistance Initiative (3/2/09)
Cities are invited to apply for the 2009 Bank On Cities Campaign, a one-year technical assistance initiative sponsored by the YEF Institute with support from the Annie E. Casey and Ford Foundations. This project is entering its second year and will help a new cohort of cities connect residents to mainstream financial services and products. Proposals are due by March 25, 2009. Bank On Cities Campaign Advances Efforts to Connect Families with Mainstream Financial Services (9/22/08)
Representatives from 14 city teams gathered for a roundtable discussion in Crystal City, Va., sponsored by the YEF Institute to learn and share strategies for “banking the unbanked” and to discuss effective methods of ensuring that appropriate financial services and products are available to low-income families. The roundtable was held in conjunction with the CFED Assets Learning Conference and marked the first gathering of local officials participating in the Bank On Cities Campaign. NLC Co-Hosts National Dialogue on Local Initiatives to Tackle Poverty (8/4/08)
